I recently completed a 33
year career with the U.S. Probation and Pretrial
Services system. Over 18 years of this experience was served in
the capacity of Chief U.S. Probation Officer and Pretrial Services
Officer.
During my tenure as chief, I worked under a series of three chief
judges. My unit court quadrupled in size during my tenure as chief.
The goals and challenges that my management team and I experienced
over the years add to my solid foundation as a leader.
Over the years I have shared my lessons of experience with court
unit executives and second in commands. I have also worked with
the AOUSC and the Federal Judiciary Center’s advisory councils,
work groups and peer advisory groups. I have facilitated workshops
and seminars to a mix of court unit executives and managers on
various topics including but not limited to:
• performance management,
• budget management,
• personnel and adverse action related issues
• strategic planning.
During my years as chief, I honed my organizational development
skills and molded the culture of the office. I introduced a participatory
management style to my staff, emphasizing total quality service
concepts in my leadership approach. I recognized the value of
effectively communicating to my team, of soliciting input and
feedback from my staff, and proper delegation to staff members.
I have a Masters Degree in Public Administration and received
numerous awards and recognition for my leadership skills and abilities.
One award that highlighted my career was the (AOUSC) Director’s
Award for Leadership Excellence.
Whether new to your position or seasoned executive, I have the
proven knowledge, abilities and skills to offer credible insight
into your daily routine. My experience will prove to be beneficial
to the executive or manager who strives to operate an effective,
efficient and healthy organization.
